Bucas Grande Island is situated on the far eastern part of the province of Surigao del Norte. Arriving in Bucas Grande is not easy. You must fly to Surigão City, then drive to Claver (around one hour) and after that take a boat to the island (also around one hour depending on where you will stay). But it is definitely worth the effort. You can enjoy pristine beaches, kayak through beautiful lagoons, explore caves, snorkel open sea, swim with lots of non-stinging jellyfish and gaze at thousands of fireflies at night. This paradise is still untouched by massive tourism.
